2019 Event Fundraising Trends
We took data from 11 organizations we worked with in the Fall 2018 to figure out how much each organization on average raised in Silent Auction, Live Auction and Fund A Need along with percentages of total Gross Amount Raised to find out some of the latest trends from our fundraising events.
Based on data from these 11 events, we found out the following:
Average Dollars Raised per Event by Category:
Silent Auction – $20,530 (15%)
Live Auction & Fund A Need – $116,000 (84%)
Other (Heads & Tails, Kendra Scott Mystery Boxes, Raffle) – $2,320 (1%)
Gross Amount Raised – $138,850
Percentage per Event
Of the 11 Events, 8 incorporated a Silent Auction component while 10 of the events had either a Live Auction and/or Fund a Need. Other revenue consists of various games like Raffle, Mystery Boxes, Wine Pull, etc.
Based on this information, an overwhelming amount of funds raised comes from Live Auction and Fund A Need with an average of 83% of the total Gross Amount Raised. While Silent Auctions are wonderful ways to incorporate fundraising for your event, the real revenue from these events comes from the Live Auction and Fund A Need.
How does this relate to Mobile Bidding?
Mobile Bidding Cost vs. Benefit. One of the main benefits for Mobile Bidding is the Silent Auction component and a lot of organizations tell me they want to give donors an opportunity to bid on items when their unable able to attend the event in person. But, how much time do your volunteers and staff members spend gathering auction items and packaging them together. Here comes the burn out with volunteers! Once this happens, most organizations have to scramble to find new people to help with this.
